How much more efficient are hybrid cars than gasoline powered cars?

Hybrid Cars And Gas Mileage

Hybrid cars use a dual system of power. They combine the use of an electric motor and a gas engine to work more efficiently. In general terms, hybrid cars get between 20 to 35 percent better gas mileage than gas driven vehicles. However, it's important to keep in mind that the higher sticker price may not offset this increased gas mileage. For example, one major car manufacturer offers a hybrid version and a gas version of the same vehicle. In a side-by-side comparison, the hybrid car would need thirteen years to make up for its higher price tag.

In addition to gas mileage, hybrid cars do offer other advantages. They are also more environmentally friendly because they produce fewer emissions than gasoline-powered vehicles.
