Rather than using commercial hardwood floor cleaners that can pollute your home's air quality, why not create your own natural cleaning products? Simply mix one part vinegar to every eight parts water in a bucket. Use a regular mop to dampen and scrub the floor. Allow the hardwood floor to dry with the natural cleaning products.
If you encounter a stubborn spot, soak the area by placing a damp cloth of the cleaning solution over it for 10 to 15 minutes. Then scrub the area gently with a cloth to remove any remaining residue. For especially hard-to-remove spots, try lifting the dirt with the edge of a plastic card.
