Recycle Plastic Grocery Bags

Grocery bags are recyclable items and most stores make it easy for you to recycle with drop off boxes right in the grocery store. These bags along with produce bags (plastic) can be effectively recycled and used for plastic lumber and other products. Recycling these bags not only saves energy, but it also cuts down on chemical out gassing, which results from new plastic products. So, recycle your old plastic grocery and produce bags and help your family and others “breathe easy.”

Before putting those bags into the "recycle" container, we use them a few more times. We fold the bags so that they store easier and then when we go to the store, we bring them along and bag our own groceries (stores love this ... it saves them work). We also donate bags to libraries and charities (like Goodwill). We use them to line garbage pails and we carry them when hiking (to carry out any garbage we create). After the bags have been thoroughly used up, then we put them in the recycle container.
